- Things to do in the Hamptons this week: March 18–23, 2022. St. Patrick's Day parades are still going on in the Hamptons as well as fun-family events. Check out what's happening this week. (Dan's Papers)
- The mask mandate ended for school children, but some remain afraid. Debra Winter, superintendent of Springs School, reported that while most are happy to see the mandate lifted, it is troubling for some. She said, “It’s definitely confusing to students. Some are still very concerned that they could get sick, they could not see grandparents or be responsible for making small siblings sick. I just hope we don’t have to go back to wearing masks.” (Dan's Papers)
- Sam Schneider, former Riverhead administrator, will be paid through June 30 under the terms of a settlement agreement approved by the Board of Education in January. (Subscription: Riverhead News Review)
- In an effort to bolster immunity among older Americans, "Pfizer and its coronavirus vaccine partner, BioNTech, have asked the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization" for a second COVID-19 vaccine booster to increase the durability of their coronavirus vaccinations. Pfizer-BioNTech said the request for FDA authorization of a second booster is based on "real-world" data from studies in Israel, which is among a handful of countries that offer the second boosters to older people.
