  1. The 30th anniversary of the Hamptons International Film Festival will take place Oct. 7 – 16, HamptonsFilm announced. The festival will be extended to a 10-day event with additional film programming across the Hamptons. “To commemorate our 30th anniversary, we are thrilled to look at all that we have accomplished to stand out as a premier film institution,” said HamptonsFilm Executive Director Anne Chaisson. The festival is now accepting submissions through FilmFreeway at filmfreeway.com/HamptonsFilm. (East Hampton Star)
  2. The New York State Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the public use of ‘Truck Beach’ in Napeague. East Hampton Town will ask the court to give it title to three stretches of dunelands in Napeague that were supposed to have been deeded to the town decades ago. (Subscription: 27east.com)
  3. A popular pandemic remedy may become permanent: Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a plan to support the recovery of the hotels, restaurants and bars in New York, including a proposal to permanently legalize to-go drinks. "'This is what kept people afloat during those dark months and years of the pandemic,' Hochul said." (Patch)

The East Hampton Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of appointing Sam Schneider to assistant superintendent of business in East Hampton which fills the role of Keith Rugen, who resigned Jan. 18.
