- Ina Garten's tips for good chicken noodle soup. “Can’t make good chicken noodle soup without good homemade chicken stock,” she said as she heated stock she had on hand in her freezer. Garten roasts her chicken before placing it into the broth. She stated the difference between your soup tasting like dishwater or really good chicken soup, is salt. (Showbiz Cheat Sheet)
- Brad Kolodny’s latest book, The Jews of Long Island: 1705-1918, details how Jewish people helped shape Long Island and the East End, with their contributions. I’m looking to dispel the notion that Jews really only moved to Long Island after World War II,” Kolodny said. “I certainly also hope that it will bring a level of appreciation for Long Island Jews about the history that exists in their towns that they might not have known about before.” (Dan's Papers)
- Ask Beatty: Life lessons that I learned from my father. After winning a tennis match, Beatty understood what her father instilled in her; "he reminded me of one of life’s eternal lessons that still governs my life and work today: Never give up. Anything is possible. Be willing to change your mindset and strategy. Stay in the game. Play out the points. Negotiate for what you want." (Dan's Papers)
- A Manorville woman is facing fraud and grand larceny charges in connection with a rental scam in Hampton Bays, according to Southampton Town Police. Police said they arrested Melanie Williams, 54, a real estate agent who took deposits for a rental home in Hampton Bays without providing the home to the would-be tenants. (Patch)
