Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Paul King from East Hampton is heartsick over the loss of his wedding ring. Despite reaching out through social media, he has not found the ring, but instead, he and his story have found a community that has come together to try and help him located the lost band. "King, works at Riverhead Building Supply at 21 RailRoad Ave in East Hampton, across from the YMCA, said that on either Friday, Feb. 25 or Saturday, Feb. 26, the ring may have been lost while he was walking to or from the long-term parking lot,' wrote the Patch. Anyone who finds the ring should ask for King at the counter inside the business. (Patch)
- Hamptons Soul: Prayers for peace in Ukraine. "As Russia invades Ukraine, it is important for us to remember the true victims of war," said Father Constantine Lazarakis. "Today, the 'Wall Street Journal' published photos of a mother holding her newborn baby in a maternity hospital doubling as a bomb shelter, and of little children huddled with their families in a local sports center, also converted into a make-shift bomb shelter. Can you imagine having to leave home in fear for your life, waiting for the next shoe to drop in a place like Southampton Youth Services or Southampton Hospital?" Father Lazarakis questioned. - On Tuesday, Pilots said the rules at East Hampton Airport were overly restrictive, especially on the owners of small single-engine planes. Those underneath the flight path complained that the rules will not do enough to curtail flight traffic, noise and environmental pollution caused by the stampede of aircraft, primarily helicopters, headed for East Hampton on summer weekends. “While their decision to delay the closing of the airport was a welcome gesture toward collaboration, the Town of East Hampton’s ill-advised airport restrictions will not solve any issues, but will instead only push the problems to neighboring communities like Montauk, Westhampton and the North Fork,” said Loren Riegelhaupt, spokesman for the Eastern Region Helicopter Council, a pilots’ group. “What’s most troubling is that we do not have the assurance that these restrictions are legally permissible, as the FAA still has not provided any clarity on the regulations.” (Sag Harbor Express)
