Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

1. East Hampton area Adoptable Pets of The Week: If you're a dog person, meet Lucky, a Yorkshire Terrier mix up for adoption. If cats are more your thing, there are several great cats available, too. Maybe you would consider fostering a pet. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year-round, many shelters offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed. 2. Who's hiring in the East Hampton area? There are many high paying jobs listed, even if you are looking for part-time work, it's all there in Patch. So, what are you waiting for? (East Hampton Patch)
3. The East Hampton Star reported that the Hampton Jitney has proposed reviving the Peconic Jitney for a five-year contract. The passenger-only ferry service would carry people between the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor and Greenport’s Mitchell Park, saving drivers a trip to Riverhead or multiple costly ferry rides. The service would begin on June 2. The ferry can accommodate up to 53 passengers per trip. Round trip tickets would cost $37 per adult, while one-way tickets would cost $20, plus additional charges for loading a bike. Service would end by Columbus Day at the latest, pending demand. 4. Gavin Ehlers, a Westhampton Beach High School senior, has advanced to the final round of the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. He is competing for one of more than 7,500 National Merit Scholarships totaling about $30 million. Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2022. (Patch)
5. Warren Lamb, 62, a Riverside man, was arrested after he was found with heroin and cocaine early Saturday, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, at 12:37 a.m., Lamb, who was in his vehicle, was stopped by police for a traffic offense on Cross River Drive at Flanders Road. During the investigation, he was found to have cocaine and heroin on his person and additional quantities of cocaine in his vehicle, police said. He was arrested and charged for possession, police said. (Southampton Patch)
