For those looking to adopt, a great place to start your search for a new four-legged companion is at Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons Inc., where Smushie the dog is waiting patiently, or another local shelter. Maybe you would consider fostering a pet. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year-round, many shelters offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed. - According to the Southampton Fire Department, a call came in at 3:02 p.m. about a crash, a person was trapped after a vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in Water Mill Friday, fire officials said. The crash took place at the intersection of Scuttle Hole Road and Cooks Lane. Heavy rescue units from the Southampton Fire Department arrived and worked quickly to extricate the person to a Bridgehampton Fire Department ambulance, officials said. The person sustained non-life-threatening injuries, fire department officials said. (Southampton Patch)
