Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. Mercedes Ruehl, Tony, Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning actor, is saying farewell to the East End. The recent sale of her 2,500-square-foot, three bedroom, two bath home at 163 Talmage Farm Lane, listed with Saunders & Associates, sold on Dec. 17 for just shy of $1.7 million, according to the Real Estate Report Inc. The new owners are artist and skateboarder Giovanni Estevez and designer Karyn Grupski, brought by Compass. (DIRT)
  2. On Feb. 18, Marc Dern, the suspect accused of killing 45-year-old Kevin Somers in East Hampton earlier this month, was released on $150,000 cash bail. Dern is due back in Suffolk court on April 14. He faces up to 25 years in prison, if convicted. (Dan's Papers)
  3. Ina Garten has already lined up her guests to be on her new show. "We're So Jealous," Jenna Bush Hager said. According to People, though Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager didn't make the cut, "Be My Guest with Ina Garten" will feature Emmy winning actress Julianna Margulies ("ER," "The Good Wife"); broadcaster Willie Geist ("Sunday Today," "Morning Joe"), James Beard Award-nominated chef Erin French ("The Lost Kitchen"), and Hollywood power couple Rob Marshall and John DeLuca.   4. "NYS Department of Public Service to hold hearings for public comment on internet services, including barriers to access such as high co, or areas where there's only one provider," according to a Town of East Hampton press release. Attend hearings on Feb 23-24, and March 2-3, by phone or online and take the survey. (Press Release Desk)
  5. Construction on Guild Hall in East Hampton will begin in spring 2022, with completion and re-opening expected in late spring 2023. The facility-wide capital improvement project will reimagine its building at 158 Main St. for 21st Century audiences. According the the East End Beacon, the project will include structural and technological upgrades to Guild Hall’s grounds and near-century-old building — including its museum, theater, education center, and administrative offices.
