Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. Around this time last year, Land Rover kicked off the Defender Above and Beyond Service Awards, a project to give away seven customized Defenders to nonprofits, wrote Car and Driver. The New York Marine Center in East Hampton was the winner in the "coastal and marine conservation" category and was outfitted with a custom Defender Land Rover with an onboard air compressor for beach driving.   2. According to the dog's owner John, Shucker went missing between 8:25 - 8:35 p.m. Saturday night from the parking lot of The Blend on Three Mile Harbor Road. The puppy, who is just a few months old, was alone for less than 10 minutes while the takeout order was picked up, his owner said. (East Hampton Patch)
  3. Amazon is expected to open its warehouse at the Hampton Business District in Westhampton Beach this spring. The last-mile warehouse is expected to join Tate's Bake Shop, Westhampton Beach Brewing Co., Duggal Visual Solutions and other companies at Gabreski airport business center. Officials said it would begin on the district's fifth and final building. (Subscription: Newsday)
  4. Some of the approximately 1,800 trees in Napeague State Park that have been found to be infested with southern pine beetles and will be cut down this winter in hopes of stopping the destructive beetles spread. (Subscription: 27east.com)
  5. An Environmental Quality Board of Review hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17. The hearings will be held via Zoom. Only Department representatives, applicants, applicant representatives, and formally invited parties will be able to speak during the hearing.
