Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- A Japanese-Italian fusion menu may sound unusual, and it is, but the taste is like no other. O by Kissakiβs invited a bunch of local writers and their "dates" to experience the new menu. Without hesitation, at the end of the meal, an Italian with "degrees in culinary and nutrition" who accompanied one of the writers, ranked the meal "among the top five sheβs ever had." Sounds like we have a new trend in the Hamptons. (Dan's Papers)
- Need something to do during the week? Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will screen independent and foreign films every Tuesday and Wednesday night, from June 7 to August 31. Check out the list of movies that will be presented and be sure to bring along a friend. (Dan's Papers)
- Just days after 19 children and two adults were killed in the Uvalede, Texas school shooting, the Greenport Fire Department hosted a "mass casualty exercise" on the playing fields at the Greenport High School. 24 agencies were involved, which included "local ambulance companies and fire departments converging at the scene and sending crews and equipment." More exercises like these should be held all over Long Island, which in itself, is a sad statement. (Patch)
- According to Dan's Papers, a guilty verdict has been reached in the trial of Stuart Conklin, a railroad employee whose negligence caused a Long Island Rail Road train crash because of a broken track switch that he reported overtime for inspecting it. Conklin's sentence could be four years in prison. (Dan's Papers)
