Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. The curtain has fallen permanently on an iconic movie theater in Westhampton Beach: The Hampton Arts Cinema is listed with the Melville-based Cushman & Wakefield at $1.1 million.
The former movie theater, located at 2 Brook Road, is situated on a 10,018 square foot parcel with a free-standing 8,580 square foot commercial building "at the gateway to Westhampton Beach's downtown district," according to Cushman & Wakefield. The property is zoned Business District 1 in Westhampton Beach. (Westhampton Beach Patch)
  2. There's lots to do with the family on the East End: Feb. 6-9, there's baby parachute fun, grab a bite at LT Burger, or play classic arcade games at The Clubhouse. (Dan's Papers)
  3. Patch reported that works of art created by Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus art faculty and staff members will be on exhibit from Feb. 7 - March 5 at the campus' Lyceum Gallery in Riverhead. See reception and gallery hours. (Press Release Desk)
  4. Hampton housing market boom! According to Bloomberg, in 2020 the U.S. luxury housing market, fueled by historically low interest rates and a roaring stock market, rose to unprecedented heights. And then it rose even higher. At least 42 residential properties sold for more than $50 million last year, about a 35 percent increase from the year before. Four of these properties were in the Hamptons. (Bloomberg)
