Town Police Logs: Charged with DWI, 2 Complain of Stomach Aches
Also: 18-year-old arrested on forcible touching and assault charges.
The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
• Kathleen Rafferty, 46, of East Hampton, was arrested on a felony DWI charge after an accident in the Wolfie's Tavern parking lot in Springs on June 21. When police arrived at about 11:40 p.m., they found that a 2006 Suburban backed up into a parked 1991 Lexus, and then drove away from the bar on Fort Pond Blvd.
With a description from a witness, police found the Suburban on Three Mile Harbor-Hog Creek Road. Rafferty was sitting in the driver's seat and she appeared intoxicated, police said. Due to a prior DWI conviction in 2006, the charge was elevated to a felony and her vehicle was impounded. She was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a violation.
She was placed under arrest at about 12:35 a.m., and taken to police headquarters. She complained of a stomach ache and asked to go to Southampton Hospital. An ambulance took her to the emergency room, and she was released at 6:10 a.m.
Arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court, she was released on $1,250 bail.
• Kirk J. Doerner, 50, of Montauk, was arrested on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge on June 18. Police said they saw Doerner driving a 1995 Ford north on South Edison Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of South Elmwood Avenue, at 7:55 p.m. Police pulled him over near South Euclid Avenue, and he allegedly seemed intoxicated. According to his arrest report, he had two cans of Rolling Rock beer within reach and a case containing empty cans of Rolling Rock. Once under arrest, he complained of stomach pain and an ambulance transported him to Southampton Hospital. He was released and brought to headquarters, where he was held overnight. Justice Rana released him the next day on $350 bail.
• Bernard B. Baxter, 61, of East Hampton, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on June 20. Police pulled him over for a traffic infraction on Montauk Highway, near Georgica Drive, at 10:20 p.m. Police said he was intoxicated. Held overnight, he was released on his own recognizance the next day.
• An 18-year-old Nesconset man was arrested on forcible touching and assault charges — all misdemeanors — at his house on Sunday. Police said a woman filed a complaint with them on June 3, two days after the alleged incident, which took place on South Elmwood Avenue. Police withheld the teen's name because he is eligible for youthful offender status. No further information was immediately available.
• A 31-year-old East Hampton man was arrested and charged with second-degree trespass and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, on June 20. Police said he took a 2004 Mercedes Benz from a North Bay Lane house on June 8. He returned it the next day, police said.
