Attorney General Investigating Nassau Man's Death By Police Car

The 47-year-old man was hit and killed by an unmarked police car on Nov. 19.

UNIONDALE, NY — New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the death of a Uniondale man who was hit by an unmarked Nassau County police car on Nov. 19.

Miguel Romero, 47, was crossing Front Street in Uniondale, near New York Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 when he was hit by an unmarked police car, police said.

Romero suffered multiple injuries and died at a nearby hospital.

Under state law, the Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation assess every incident in which a police officer may have caused the death of a civilian. If the assessment shows that an officer caused the death, then the OSI launches a full investigation.
