Man Was Displaying Gun In Nassau Motel Hallway: Police

EAST MEADOW, NY — A California man was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he was displaying a gun in the hallway of a motel.

Police say officers were called to the Coliseum Motor Inn, located at 1650 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, around 8:50 a.m. on Nov. 15. Police say they received a call of a man displaying a gun in the hallway of the motel.

According to police, officers searched the motel and found Miguel Lara, 31, of Delano, California. The officers found a loaded Sig-Saur pistol in his room, police said. He was placed under arrest without incident.

Lara was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, and was ordered held on bail of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond, which was not posted.
