Man Charged With DWI Had Boy, 13, In Car On LI: Police

He was pulled over in East Meadow Saturday night, police said.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A Massachusetts man was charged with driving while intoxicated with a boy, 13, in his vehicle, police said.

Nassau County police said a driver was seen heading northbound on Merrick Avenue, committing several vehicle and traffic infractions, at 8:49 p.m. Saturday. They stopped the black 2023 Nissan Titan near the intersection of Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, police said.

The officers reported that they observed the driver with slurred speech, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. He failed a standardized field sobriety test, police said.

Gregory Foutz, 48, of Massachusetts, was arrested and the vehicle's passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was released into the custody of a family friend who responded to the scene, police said.

Foutz faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 16 in the car, a violation of Leandra's Law and a felony; driving while intoxicated; endangering the welfare of a child; and multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
