Nassau Bank Robber Foiled By Teller, Nabbed By Cops: Police

Police say the man tried to rob the bank, but the teller refused to give him money. Then he was arrested minutes later.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A Hicksville man was arrested Wednesday morning after police say he tried to rob a bank in East Meadow.

Darren Lindo, 38, entered the Bank of America at 2443 Hempstead Turnpike at 9:45 a.m., police said. He approached a teller and passed them a note demanding money, but the teller fled their station without giving any cash, police said.

Police say Lindo then fled the bank, but was found by officers and arrested at 10:03 a.m.

There were four employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was inured.

Lindo is charged with third-degree attempted robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
