The state will be repaving a section of the parkway that was damaged by extreme weather.

WESTBURY, NY — Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new state funding initiative to repair roadways that have been impacted by extreme weather. A section of the Northern State Parkway will be repaired as part of the program, and it is the largest single grant in the state.

The state will be spending $100 million on 64 different repaving projects. The Northern State Parkway will be repaved between the Meadowbrook Parkway and the Wantagh Parkway. It is the only project slated for Long Island.

"We are making historic investments in transportation infrastructure to create safer roads and smooth, hassle-free commutes for all travelers," Hochul said. "New York is home to extreme weather year-round, and this $100 million in funding will be vital to helping ensure that our road conditions are safe for our hardest-hit communities."
