Over $20K In Jewelry Stolen From Nassau Shop: Police
Jean Barraso gained access from the roof of Saatchi Jewelry, police said.
ISLAND PARK, NY — A man was arrested for a pair of burglaries that took place last month in Island Park, police said.
Jean Barroso, 27, pried open the rear door of Ananau Peruvian Cuisine on Austin Boulevard in an attempt to gain access into the adjacent shop Saatchi Jewelry, police said.
When Barroso couldn't enter through the businesses, he went onto the roof and made his way into the jewelry store, authorities said.

Once inside, Barroso removed assorted jewelry valued at approximately $22,000 and fled the scene, police said.
After an investigation, he was identified and arrested without incident.

Barroso is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and was expected to be arraigned on
Thursday, police said
Further investigation revealed he is not legally in the U.S. and his next Immigration Court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
