Three NUMC Midwives Awarded
Karen Jefferson, Martine Jean-Baptiste and Kristen Leonard were given "4 Core Best Practice" award.
Three of Nassau University Medical Center's midwives were recently awarded “4 Core Best Practice” in the American College of Nurse-Midwives 2011 Benchmarking Project. The women were awarded for the top quality care that they provide patients.
"Karen Jefferson, Martine Jean-Baptiste, and Kristen Leonard are to be congratulated for their commitment to achieving best practice for the top quality care they provide to all their patients, vital to the quality management of midwifery practices nationally, Arthur Gianelli, president of the NuHealth System said.
The “4 Core Best Practice” perinatal measures include induction of labor, primary cesarean, episiotomy and breastfeeding before discharge. The award has been designed to acknowledge pratices designed to acknowledge practices achieving nationally established benchmarks for physiologic birth.
