Trio Robbed Nassau Gas Station At Gunpoint: Police

EAST MEADOW, NY — Three men were charged after police say they robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint on Dec. 31.

According to Nassau County police, Oscar Marcia, 27, of Levittown; Jose Antonis, 33, of Hempstead; and Victor Almandades-Zavala, 28, of Hempstead all entered the BP gas station at 1878 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow at 11:08 p.m. on Dec. 31. Police say Almandades-Zavala pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the 25-year-old man working there, and demanded cash and lottery tickets.

The man gave them what they wanted, and police say the three fled the scene in a 2012 Dodge Caravan. While driving onto the Southern State Parkway near the intersection of Newbridge Road, police say their car hit a traffic safety sign and was disabled. The three got out of the car and fled on foot, police said, but were arrested a short time later.

Police say an investigation found that Almandades-Zavala had robbed the same gas station on Dec. 11.

All three men are charged with first- and second-degree robbery and criminal possession of a firearm. Almandades-Zavala is additionally charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. Antonis is also charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

All three were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 1. Marcia was ordered held on bail of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond, which was not posted. Antonis and Almandades-Zavala were both ordered held on bail of $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond, which was not posted.
