  1. Jerry Barmash tells us that a milestone has been achieved on Long Island: the first female football has scored a touchdown. Bellmore's Sofia LaSpina is a junior at Mepham High School and scored on Saturday in a victory over Roslyn. (Patch)
  2. Patch looks at how neighbors are raising money for families and businesses affected by Sunday's fire in Lakeview. 30 people were displaced from their homes. (Patch)
  3. Jeff Bessen reports that Lawrence High School's varsity football team had to forfeit a Sept. 18 game against Friends Academy because the team, except for vaccinated members, had to quarantine due to a positive Covid-19 case. (LI Herald)
  4. A cat missing from a flight at JFK was found after three weeks thanks to some local volunteers. The cat escaped from his carrier and was found on the tarmac. (Patch)
