LI Teacher Sexually Abused 14-Year-Old Student: Police
BREAKING: He faces 27 counts of rape.

VALLEY STREAM, NY – A 33-year-old Long Island teacher is accused of sexually abusing a student beginning when she was 14 years old, Nassau Police said Friday.
Daniel McMenamin "engaged in numerous acts of sexual conduct" with the student from November 2014 until July 2017 while McMenamin was a teacher at Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere, police said.
The victim was a student at the private school during the course of the acts, police said.

Special Victims Squad detectives went to McMenamin's Valley Stream home Thursday evening to place him under arrest, but McMenamin refused to leave the residence, police said. McMenamin eventually surrendered after detectives spoke with his attorney, police said.
McMenamin is charged with three counts of second degree criminal sexual act, three counts of second degree rape, 24 counts of third degree criminal sexual act, 24 counts of third degree rape and endangering the welfare of child. He will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy, founded in 1912, enrolls about 250 K-12 students, according to its website.
