  1. Alex Costello previews a major job fair hosted by the Town of Oyster Bay on Oct. 12, with employers from across Long Island. It will be at the Town Ice Skating Rink, 1001 Stewart Ave. in Bethpage, free and it runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (Patch)
  2. News 12 Long Island previews a favorite annual fall event: the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze returns to Old Bethpage Village next Wednesday. There will be over 7,000 hand carved Jack o’ lanterns, with an accompanying music and light show. (News 12)
  3. Jeff Bessen shares that police are looking for a man who allegedly stole 30 cans of Red Bull at the CVS at 530 Burnside Ave. in Inwood. He got into a gray Toyota sedan, described as white, 25- to 30-years-old, 5'9" and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, camouflage shorts, a black hat, red and white sneakers, American flag face mask and had on a black backpack. (LI Herald)

Mike Smollins reports that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently a tentative plan called the Nassau County Coastal Storm Risk Management Study that proposes elevating more than 14,000 homes and flood-proofing more than 2,500 industrial and commercial properties across the South Shore. East Rockaway and Lynbrook are part of the Back Bay areas covered by the plan. Public input is being asked for. (LI Herald)
  5. Lisa Margaria talks to a Woodmere Midde Schooler who is aiming for the stars: Darsh Chavre, 12, attended sleep-away camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The eighth-grader wants to one day be an astronaut. (LI Herald)
