- Alex Costello writes that a Queens man attacked officers after shoplifting at the Burlington Coat Factory in North Lawrence on Wednesday morning. (Patch)
- Alex Costello reports that three men were arrested and charged with murder for the death of a Long Beach man in Freeport on Sept. 10: Corey Grier, of Freeport; Eric R. Baldwin, of Freeport; and Todd Brant, from Middle Island, were charged on Wednesday with the murder of James Diamond, 28, of Long Beach. (Patch)
- Jeff Bessen explains that Lawrence Schools is once again looking to sell the Number Five School in Cedarhurst. The school, at 305 Cedarhurst Ave. in Cedarhurst, has been leased for the past seven years by the Shulamith School for Girls at a price of now $600,000. (LI Herald)
