Here are the top stories today in Five Towns:
- Patch tells us that ten-digit dialing for 516 numbers starts today. Nassau County residents should change any pre-programmed numbers like emergency, security and medical saved numbers. The change is coming because a new three-digit number will be used nationwide to reach the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Line. (Patch)
- A new kitchen showroom store has opened in Levittown. Wren Kitchen is a U.K.-based chain and this is their first Long Island location. (Patch)
- The Island Now talks to Jason Abelove, Democratic candidate for Hempstead town supervisor. He's critical of current Supervisor Don Clavin's allocation of pandemic relief money among other issues. (The Island Now)
- A man was convicted for his role in a burglary ring that targeted homes in gated communities on the North Shore of Nassau. Brayan Castano, 33, of Elmhurst, Queens, was convicted on Friday for seven counts of burglary in the second degree, attempted burglary in the second degree, and possession of burglar’s tools. (Daily Voice)

- Early voting started yesterday and will run through Oct. 31 at 17 sites across Nassau County, including the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club, 101 Causeway in Lawrence. On Sundays it runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
