Threat Against Nassau JCC Sparks Investigation: Police

Police say the threat was a hoax, but they are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

LAWRENCE, NY — A threat against a JCC in Lawrence prompted Nassau County police conduct an extensive search of the area, but it turned out to be a hoax.

According to police, a call was made to 911 at 5:47 po.m. Sunday for a threat against members of the JCC of the Greater Five Towns, located at 140 Central Ave. in Lawrence.

Police officers responded to the scene and searched the entire location, but found no evidence of any threats. The building was deemed safe.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the threat is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
