  1. Jerry Barmash reports that two people were charged with shoplifting in North Lawrence.
    Jamell Bing, 31, of Far Rockaway, was arrested for shoplifting at the Bay Harbour Mall on Rockaway Turnpike on Sept. 17 and on Sept. 21, Tareshe Allison Jabble, 50, of Far Rockaway, was accused of shoplifting at DSW Shoe Warehouse. (Patch)
  2. Lisa Margaria writes how an act of kindness in the Five Towns went viral on social media. A Facebook post of a volunteer from Chaverim of the Five Towns and Rockaway — an emergency roadside-assistance nonprofit — who changed a stranger's tire on the Southern State Parkway last month went viral. Kasriel Zakutinsky, a Chaverim volunteer, spotted the driver and changed the tire before AAA arrived. (LI Herald)
