Queens Daycare Worker Charged In Deadly Stabbing: NYPD

A 52-year-old woman is accused of stabbing five people at the daycare center, including three babies.

EAST FLUSHING, NY — The worker accused of going on a stabbing rampage at Queens daycare center that left three babies and two adults injured has been charged, the NYPD said.

Yu Fen Wang, 52, is charged with five counts of attempted murder, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The stabbing at the unregistered East Flushing daycare happened early Friday morning at 43-67 161st St.

Two infant girls, a baby boy, a father and another woman who worked at the center were among those stabbed. The children, who range in age from just three days to one month, were hospitalized in "critical but stable" condition, Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes said.

Cops who responded found the accused unconscious with self-inflicted slash wounds to her wrists, which they treated with a turniquet, Holmes said. A meat cleaver and a butcher knife were recovered at the scene.

Police have seen paperwork indicating the facility was a nursery, Holmes said. But the building's address does not appear in state or city databases of licensed child care providers. A company called Mei Xin Care Inc. is registered there, but no phone number is listed for the business.
