FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Queens-based nonprofits will come together for a volunteer fair this weekend to showcase opportunities to help those in need.
Hosted by the Church-in-the-Gardens, the fair is meant to connect aspiring volunteers to representatives from regional nonprofits, according to a press release.
The nonprofits attending the fair are dedicated to a variety of missions, including the environment, the arts, the general Queens community and aiding the homeless, the hungry, the elderly, at-risk children and the sick and impaired.

The church's world service committee is organizing the event, which takes place Sunday afternoon at the Community House at 15 Borage Place in Forest Hills.
“There are a great many people in Queens — retirees, students, families — who would love to donate their time and skills to a great cause," committee member Hal Christensen said. "This event will be the perfect way for them to learn about opportunities right here in Queens and about service-minded organizations that would love to have their help.”
