Explosions In Forest Hills, Queens, Heard After Manhole Fires
Con Edison said a crew was on scene working to restore power to a large apartment building.

FOREST HILLS, NY — Explosions were heard in Forest Hills, Queens, on Sunday night as firefighters rushed to the scenes of multiple manhole fires the neighborhood. The fires happened at 102-30 Queens Blvd. around 10:45 p.m., an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
Several people in and around the area reported hearing and feeling explosions Sunday night, including one who was underground on the subway.

No one was injured in the fires.
A Con Edison spokeswoman told Patch shortly before 1 a.m. that a large apartment building on Queens Blvd. lost power, and a crew was on scene working to restore it. Power was restored by Monday morning.
