Forest Hills, Kew Gardens LIRR Stations To Undergo Weekend Disruptions

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The Long Island Rail Road stations in Forest Hills and Kew Gardens will undergo service disruptions over the weekend as improvement work takes place.

Eastbound service at Forest Hills and Kew Gardens will not be available starting Friday, March 31, at 10 p.m. until Monday, April 3, at 5 a.m. as the MTA repairs the Flushing line, the agency announced.

As the MTA works the tracks, eastbound trains from Manhattan will run nonstop to Jamaica. Trains at the Port Washington Branch will continue to stop at Woodside in both directions.
Due to the changes, the subway will allow LIRR riders to enter these stations for free:

• 34 St-Penn Station (8 Av)
• Grand Central-42 St
• Woodside-61 St
• Forest Hills-71 Av
• Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike

Riders must present their LIRR ticket to the station booth agent for access to the subway system.

The disruptions come after Forest Hills residents were already contending with a series of transportation issues with the LIRR stations.

Service between Kew Gardens and Forest Hills was non-existent earlier this month, and early-morning train service and late-afternoon service at stations in Kew Gardens and Forest Hills were also disrupted.
