Forest Hills Street Co-Naming Honors Former CB6 Chair
Friends and family will convene at the corner of 108th Street and 62nd Drive to co-name the street in honor of Joseph Hennessy.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A street in Forest Hills will honor a former Community Board 6 Chair during a co-naming ceremony next week.
Friends and family will convene at the corner of 108th Street and 62nd Drive to co-name the street in honor of Joseph Hennessy, who died in 2020 at the age of 82.
The street co-naming event will take place on Saturday, June 10, at 11:30 a.m.

Hennessy was Chairman of Queens Community Board 6, which covers Forest Hills and Rego Park, and President of the Board of Directors of the Forest Hills Co-op for over 30 years.
"He was a wonderful community leader who served with distinction," Rep. Grace Meng said when he Hennessy died. "His contributions over many decades of service will not be forgotten."

He was born in 1938 in County Cork, Ireland. Hennessy immigrated to the U.S. in 1957, and he served in the army during World War II.
In 1963, he married Catherine Jane, with whom he had three daughters.
Hennessy managed a New York City yellow taxi fleet for over 50 years and was known amongst family and friends as “The Best Tour Guide of New York City."
