FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Forest Hills residents have several chances this weekend to spend time outdoors while beautifying local green spaces.

The Parks Department is bringing two volunteer trash pick up events to Forest Park this weekend: The Litter Ambassadors program, which hosts recurrent trash pick ups through October, and a Hike and Pick program, which takes place on Sundays in July.

Litter Ambassadors meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the park, and the Hike and Pick event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

As a volunteer Litter Ambassador people hand out garbage bags to park-goers around Forest Park, and help clean up around the park's picnic and BBQ areas.

Similarly, the Hike and Pick program involves walking around the park and picking up trash, but volunteers will specifically do their pick up on the park's 1.7-mile long Blue Trail.
