Nonprofit Discussing Health Care with Seniors on Austin Street Today

Visiting Nurse Service will have a mobile van parked on the commercial strip every Tuesday this month.

Visiting Nurse Service is providing information on Medicare and other health care-related issues on Austin Street today.

The nonprofit, which is based in Manhattan, has set up a mobile van on Austin Street near 71st Avenue and will do do every Tuesday this month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"We're helping the community with Medicare advantage plans, prescription companies and premiums," said John Mandaro, a representative from the nonprofit.

Those who show up at the mobile van can learn about health plans for seniors, reducing out of pocket costs, Medicare plans and how elderly residents can obtain rides to doctor's appointments.
