NY Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi Wins Another Term

State Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi defeated third-party candidate Danniel Maio, according to NY1 projections.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi is officially returning to Albany for another term representing Central Queens, NY1 has projected.

Hevesi defeated Danniel Maio, who ran on a third-party line called "COVID-19 Stories."

Early returns showed Hevesi with 83 percent of the vote, translating into a lead of more than 18,000 votes, according to the NYC Board of Elections.

Those tallies do not yet include absentee ballots, which the Board of Elections will not start counting until next week.

More than 14,000 voters mailed ballots in Hevesi's district, according to unofficial tallies Tuesday.

Hevesi was first elected in 2005 to represent the 28th Assembly District, which includes parts of Forest Hills, Rego Park, Ridgewood, Richmond Hill, Middle Village, Glendale and Kew Gardens.
