Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday and is experiencing mild symptoms

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz tested positive for the new coronavirus over the weekend, a spokesperson for the DA's office confirmed.

Katz had a fever for a few days but is no longer experiencing symptoms, according to POLITICO, which first reported the news.

The former Queens borough president got tested after she found out on March 21 that she'd come into contact with someone who had the virus, POLITICO reported. Her results came back positive on Saturday.

It's unclear how Katz got exposed to COVID-19, the official name for the disease caused by the new coronavirus, because she had already been working from home, according to POLITICO.
