Rego Park Woman Killed In Apartment Building Fire, Police Say

The blaze on the fifth floor of a 62nd Avenue building killed one person and sent three others to the hospital, police said.

REGO PARK, QUEENS — A Saturday night fire in a Rego Park apartment building killed one resident and sent three other people to the hospital, police said. Cops responded to the blaze on the fifth floor of 87-30 62nd Ave. around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, the NYPD said.

Anna Latek, 51, was brought out of the building and taken to Elmhurst Hospital for smoke inhalation, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Three other people were taken to Booth Memorial Hospital — the former name of NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens — for smoke inhalation in stable condition, police said.

The fire is still under investigation and the city fire marshal will determine what caused it, police said.
