FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A signal malfunction near Forest Hills Monday morning has prompted hours of delays amid rush hour, the MTA announced.

The signal issue started at about 5:30 a.m. near the 67th Avenue subway station in Forest Hills, spurring delays on the R train, the transit agency tweeted.

About three hours after the malfunction there were still delays on M and R trains running in both directions, according to the MTA, which left its investigation into the signal problem unsolved in an attempt to get trains back-up-and-running during morning rush hour.
