Weeklong Queens Donation Drive Will Aid Veterans, The Homeless

The Queens Borough President's Office is kicking off its week of service with two donation drives to help veterans and the homeless.

QUEENS, NY — The Queens borough president's office is kicking off a borough-wide week of service with two donation drives to help veterans and the homeless.

Starting Feb. 10, Queens Borough Hall and the borough's 14 community boards will collect new pairs of socks for homeless individuals in Queens and items for patients at the St. Albans Veterans Administration Medical Center, including toothpaste, body lotion, body wash, zip-up hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants with drawstrings.

The borough president's office is partnering with Monkworkx Corp., a nonprofit that assists the homeless, on the sock donation drive.

“A true hallmark of our borough is the volunteerism and generosity so many Queens families exercise in service to their neighbors and their neighborhoods,” Acting Borough President Sharon Lee said. “Please consider donating even a brief moment of your time to build a healthier and safer Borough of Families.”

The drive will run through Feb. 17.
