A Valentine's Day Guide for Fort Greene and Clinton Hill

From a fancy French bistro to a pretty doughnut -- we've got your Valentine's day offerings covered.

 

Want to celebrate Valentine's Day with your sweetheart (or a great group of friends), but don't feel like traveling far? Not a problem: there is plenty to do, eat and see in and around the neighborhood. 

Several local businesses are running specials for Thursday's festivities, including:

Lola BKLYN, 387 Myrtle Ave.

Offerings abound for love birds as well as bachelors and bachelorettes with their "North American Love Story in Two Acts." As of press time, seven tables were still available for the restaurant's $40 prix-fixe meal, available from 5-10:30 p.m., or during "Act I."

Then, at 10:30 p.m. the real fun begins with "Act II."  Singles, or otherwise are welcome to belly-up to the bar for "the Speakeasy." Horror movies and drink specials will be doled out until 3 a.m.

Chez Oskar, 211 DeKalb Ave.

The French bistro is serving a prix-fixe dinner of -- you guessed it-- French cuisine for $50 or $70, with a per course wine pairing. 

The bistro is also collaborating with St. Germain in creating specially crafted cocktails to accompany dinner, including 'the Oskar Spritz 'with Brut Rose Champagne, St. Germain and soda makes, and 'the Parisian,' which is a twist on the Manhattan and provides a bolder flavor. 

If you'd like to have an early dinner, as of press time, seven reservations are available before 9:30 p.m. But if you're more of a night owl, there are ten spots open after the 9:30 p.m. mark.

Prospect, 773 Fulton St.

The Fulton Street eatery is holding a special five-course chef’s tasting for $125 per person with a complimentary glass of champagne to start and a $65 wine pairing.

There are three seatings throughout the night and last we heard, there were eight seats remaining for the 6 p.m. seating and 16 seats available for the 10 p.m. seating. The 8 p.m. slot is completely booked. 

The tasting menu will also be available at the bar for walk-ins and those at the bar may order selections from the tasting menu a la carte. Vegetarian and non-meat substitutions are available.

For those looking to celebrate Valentine's Day on a budgetDunkin' Donuts is celebrating the Feb. 14 holiday by offering an array of seasonal treats, including a chocolate mocha coffee, dark chocolate coffee, dark hot chocolate, a brownie batter donut and "Cupid's choice" donut. After all, it's the thought that counts.

The neighborhood Dunkin' Donuts is located at 573 Lafayette Ave.

 

Get your cultural fix at The Brooklyn Museum, where galleries on display include "Love Stinks," "Art Undressed" and "Lovers Stories." Come for the art but stay for the many other happenings at the museum, including a chocolate tasting; wine and food served in the café; and music by jazz pianist Joe Alterman and award-winning vocalist Alexis Cole.
