NYC Subway Rider Threatens To Shoot MTA Worker Over Train Delays

Widespread commuter rage over delays on multiple lines Monday got especially real on a C train heading through Fort Greene, cops say.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A subway commuter furious over the mess of train delays Monday morning took out his anger on an unsuspecting MTA worker aboard his southbound C train, according to the NYPD.

The worker told police that the angry guy started "yelling at him about the disruption of train service" around 11:40 a.m., according to a police spokeswoman. And when the train pulled up to the Lafayette Avenue station in Fort Greene, the guy allegedly followed him into the station, "displayed a black object by his hip, and said, 'I should shoot you.'"

The commuter then fled the station to parts unknown, police said. He's wanting for "menacing." Cops describe him as a black man in his 30s, standing around 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

"I took off running,” the worker who was targeted told the New York Daily News. “He said a lot of things... but I didn’t take any notice to anything that he was saying until he said the one thing about how he should shoot me.”

C trains — along with a slew of other trains — were running with extensive delays for hours Monday morning, after drain pipes that froze overnight at the West 4th Street-Washington Square station in the West Village began melting and dripping onto the train tracks. The MTA said it was forced to shut down power to the station — causing a domino effect of halts and delays across the system.
