Brooklyn Subway Nap Ends in Slashing, Police Say
Anthony Purdie, who was sleeping in the Classon Avenue station early Monday, slashed the nose of a man who woke him, according to the NYPD.

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — A subway slashing on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy early Monday left one man injured and resulted in one arrest.
Anthony Purdie, 54, was sleeping in the Classon Avenue G Train station when he was awoken by a 33-year-old man at about 3:15 a.m., police said. Purdie cut the man’s nose and fled with the victim in pursuit, according to the NYPD.

Police did not recover a weapon from the crime scene, but said they believed Purdie used a box cutter.
Thirty minutes later, both Purdie and the victim entered the NYPD’s 88th Precinct building. Purdie said he had been robbed by the slashing victim. The victim told police Purdie had assaulted him. Purdie was arrested and charged by police with assault.

The victim declined to receive medical attention, the NYPD said.
Purdie is a Bushwick resident, police said. According to ABC7, both men have a criminal record, and Purdie spent 15 years in jail for murder and was slashed himself in January.
