Brooklyn Technical Ranked 40th Best High School in State

Niche.com ranked the best public high schools in New York.

In a recently released report, Niche.com named Brooklyn Technical High School as the 40th best public high school in New York.

The website evaluated schools based on key statistics, as well as parent and student reviews. Brooklyn Technical High School received an overall grade of an ”A+” from Niche.

According to the report, the school received an “A+” grade for teachers, administration/policies, educational outcomes and extracurriculars, an “A” for academics and student culture/diversity, and a “B-” for resources/facilities.

The school’s lowest grade – a “C+” rating – came in food.

“Brooklyn Tech prepared me for college in just about every way possible,” a former student wrote in an assessment of the school. “The curriculum itself is meant to push students above and beyond in order to give them an advantage in the real world and in college. As a college student, I can honestly say that most of the work has been easy, whether it’s writing essays, computing math problems, or brainstorming ideas for projects.”

Niche.com used a detailed set of methods to rank 14,431 public high schools across the country and collected 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

According to the website, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:

  • Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
  • District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
  • District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
  • Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
