Habana Outpost Tops Outdoor Dining List After Long-Awaited Return

BROOKLYN, NY — When Habana Outpost returned to Fort Greene this summer after a pandemic pause, throngs of Brooklynites flocked to the Cuban eatery's yard, cementing it — once again — as an outdoor dining destination.

Now, the Cuban eatery — best known for its large backyard and beloved cubano sandwich — is formally being recognized as one of the best outdoor dining spots in Brooklyn, according to critics.

The restaurant was included in an Eater list of the 16 best places to outdoor dine in Brooklyn, updated this week as the city enters the throes of summer.

Eater said Habana Outpost's return to the corner of Fulton Street and South Portland Avenue marks the restoration of "outdoor drinking order to Fort Greene."

In addition to a menu of sandwiches and grilled corn, the eatery is known for serving up "buckets of beer and pitchers of colorful frozen cocktails," as Eater puts it.

You can eat and drink on the sidewalk, critics noted, but the bulk of the plein air seating is in a side yard complete with lights and tents in case of rain.

Open noon to midnight Wednesday through Monday at 757 Fulton Street, Habana Outpost will be open all summer — possibly stretching into or after September depending on weather, the director of operations told Patch earlier this summer.
