Man With Autism Beaten By Rod-Wielding Attacker Near BK Navy Yard: PD
Police didn't specify the object the attacker used in the beating, but NYPD video footage shows him holding what appear to be wooden rods.
BROOKLYN, NY — A man with autism sitting in the lobby of a building near the Brooklyn Navy Yard was beaten by a rod-wielding attacker, police said.
The 33-year-old was sitting in a building near York and Gold streets about 6:30 p.m. July 11 when an as-yet unidentified attacker walked up and repeatedly hit him with an object, NYPD officials said.
Police didn't specify what the object was, but video footage released by the NYPD shows the attacker holding what appears to be two wooden rods.

After being beaten, the man with autism ran away from the attacker, and was later taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
The attacker hasn't been seen since, and the NYPD are still searching for him as of Tuesday.
