Assemblyman Walter Mosley (D-57) kicked off his legislative career with a vote Tuesday in favor of the passage of New York Secure Ammunition and Firearm Enforcement (NY SAFE) Act, helping to secure the toughest gun laws in the U.S.

"This legislation better equips New York to regulate gun sales and keep dangerous weapons out of the wrong hands," said the Assemblyman, who also serves as the male district leader for the 57th Assembly District. He also noted there is more work to be done.

"The illegal and lethal gun crisis in our communities cannot be resolved overnight," he said.

Mosley noted that families and children must be the top priority in working to resolve the "gun crisis," saying action will be necessary from all levels of government.

"For their safety and future, we must be dedicated to ending the glorified culture of violence, while providing constructive opportunities to keep our young people off the streets and out of harm’s way," he said.

"I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues in the legislature to successfully bring about change."
