VIDEO: Russians Think This Flock of Birds Formed Putin's Face Over Brooklyn

We most definitely cannot guarantee the authenticity of this video.

A pair of alleged American tourists allegedly named Sheryl Gilbert and Gregory West claim on YouTube and Twitter, respectively, that they were riding an opened-topped tour bus through Brooklyn a few days ago when, out of nowhere, an alleged flock of birds allegedly swooped down over the Williamsburg Bridge to paint Russian President Vladimir Putin’s portrait using thousands of their tiny bodies.

Below is Gilbert’s alleged video proof, posted to her YouTube account.

Even if the video is a hoax, which it probably is, we’ve got to hand it to the Photoshoppers: It does look a lot like a flock of birds forming Putin’s face over Brooklyn. And that’s a pretty terrifying thing.

According to the Washington Post, government-owned Russian TV channel Zvezda (or “Star”) ran the video as a news story.

The Russians have since inundated Gilbert’s upload with comments such as “It’s a warning to the U.S. that they shouldn’t start a war with Russia” (as translated by the Post). And one Ukranian commenter reportedly wrote: “Putin bribed American birds.”

Sputnik, another Russian government-owned news site, this one targeted more toward millennials, calls the video an “unusual and unclear omen.”

Deepening the mystery, both Gilbert and West’s Twitter feeds are filled with a somewhat nonsensical mash of ultra-right-wing propaganda.

West tweeted a link to the video on Tuesday, with the caption: “Saw it several days ago during a trip and that’s amazing! Can you see the face? Who is it?”
