Freeport's New Superintendent Of Schools 'Excited' For Year Ahead

FREEPORT, NY — Freeport Public Schools has officially welcomed Fia Davis as the new superintendent of schools.

She was part of orientation this week, along with more than two dozen new educators in the district.

"I’m so excited as this is our first official gathering for me, and so I get to be with you, the first-year teachers, first," Davis said.

As part of her introductory remarks, Davis said: “As teachers, what we do is the work of hearts and minds, and we have to love our students to teach them. No matter what they look like, no matter how they act, even on their worst day. It doesn’t mean we don’t teach them right from wrong or what’s better and more important, but we must love them to teach them."
