Roosevelt Celebrates Holiday Season Through Community Partnerships
District Hosts NCPD Holiday Toy Parade and Joins Chamber of Commerce for Winter Wonderland Toy Giveaway
The Roosevelt School District recently celebrated the spirit of the season and ensured every family in the community has the support and resources to have a happy holiday this year.
The District partnered with the Nassau County Police Department Foundation for its Annual Holiday Toy Parade at Roosevelt High School on Saturday, December 6. Now in its ninth year, the District’s partnership with the Nassau County Police Department has become a cherished tradition that families eagerly anticipate every December. Members of the NCPD delivered toys, cheer and warm holiday spirit to families across our community during a festive afternoon that included a joyous visit from Santa Claus.
“In a time when many in our community are burdened by the rising costs of groceries, utilities, and other essentials, this event represents far more than the distribution of toys. It serves as a reminder that compassion, service, and community partnerships uplift us, especially during the holiday season,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “We are deeply grateful to the Nassau County Police Department, the NCPD Foundation, and all of the partners who make this possible. Their commitment ensures that thousands of children across Uniondale, Roosevelt, and Freeport experience joy, hope, and a sense of belonging.”
