The Rough Rider Wrestling program at Roosevelt High School in the Roosevelt School District delivered an outstanding performance at Section VIII Wrestling’s Knights Classic, earning multiple podium finishes and marking a historic moment for the district.
The Boys Varsity Wrestling team turned heads with a series of impressive results at the tournament at Uniondale High School on November 30. Their determination, skill and sportsmanship helped lead the team to one of its strongest tournament showings of the season.
In a landmark debut, Roosevelt’s first-ever Girls Wrestling Team took to the mats at the Lady Knights Classic. The team etched its place in District history with an exceptional opening performance highlighted by podium finishes from Team Captain Sara Casasola and Genesis Cabrera. Their success signals a bright future for girls wrestling at Roosevelt High School.
“The District is proud of the Rough Riders and all they accomplished at the tournament,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “Their hard work, dedication, and passion are an inspiration to our school community.”
