Alleged MS-13 Members Charged in Connection To Several Murders: Feds
The 49-count indictment was unsealed on Monday, prosecutors announced.
BROOKLYN, NY — A 49-count superseding indictment was unsealed on Monday in federal court in Brooklyn, with new charges related to murders allegedly ordered and committed by leaders, members and associates of MS-13 on Long Island, prosecutors announced.
Among those previously indicted:
- Christian Alas Leon, 26, (also known as "Pata de Chucho"), of Westbury
- Carlos Alvarado, 21, (also known as "Brayle" and "Danny"), of Westbury
- Erick Galdamez Leon, 24, (also known as "Truco," "Burro," and "Chicle"), of Westbury
- Yonathan Hernandez, 25, of Hempstead
- Jose Mejia Hernandez, 22, (also known as "Mismo" and "Timbre"), of Westbury
- Jose Perez Ovando, 24, (also known as "Domino" and "Incompleto"), of Westbury
"My Office and our law enforcement partners have worked tirelessly to hold MS-
13 accountable for the unspeakable harm it has done to its victims and our communities," U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said. "As these charges make clear, our pursuit of those responsible will not be deterred by the passage of time or by the leaders of MS-13’s futile attempts to hide in the shadows."

Monday's superseding indictment adds charges related to three murders, including charges against alleged national gang leaders Edenilson Velasquez Larin and Hugo Diaz Amaya, the U.S. Attorney said.
"The defendants’ ruthless violence, in furtherance of the MS-13 gang, has no
place in society and our communities," said Special Agent in Charge William Walker.
